Privacy Policy
Written to be read, not to be survived. This explains exactly what we collect, why, and what we will never do with it.
1Who we are
Datalyst Africa (“Datalyst”, “we”, “us”) is a data analytics, artificial intelligence and research firm registered in Zimbabwe, with offices at Corner Rotten Row & Pennefather Road, Harare, Zimbabwe.
We are the data controller for information collected through this website. For any privacy question, write to info@datalystafrica.com or call +263 773 806 868.
2What we collect
We collect only what we need to answer you and to run our services. Nothing on this site requires you to create an account or share anything before you are ready.
| What | Why | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Name, email, phone, organisation | To reply to your enquiry and identify who we are speaking to | Your request |
| What you tell us in a message | To understand your requirement and scope a response | Your request |
| Meeting preferences and timezone | To schedule and confirm a booking | Your request |
| Account credentials | To create and secure your client portal account | Contract |
| IP address and submission time | To prevent spam and abuse of our forms | Legitimate interest |
| Aggregate page statistics | To see which pages are useful and fix what is not | Consent |
We do not use hidden trackers, we do not buy contact lists, and we do not enrich your record with data bought from brokers.
3How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Reply to your enquiry, quotation request or booking
- Provide, configure and support the services you have engaged us for
- Send the automatic acknowledgement email you receive after submitting a form
- Verify that submissions are made by a human and not an automated script
- Send occasional insights, but only where you have explicitly opted in
- Meet our legal, accounting and audit obligations
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles.
4Client and project data
Data you provide to us as part of a project — survey responses, customer records, financial data, documents — is treated as confidential client data, not as marketing data.
- It is processed only for the purposes set out in your contract or scope of work
- It is never used to train public or third-party AI models
- It stays within the infrastructure and jurisdiction agreed with you
- Access is limited to the specific team members working on your engagement
- It is returned or securely deleted at the end of the engagement on your written request
Where we process personal data about your customers, staff or beneficiaries on your behalf, we act as a data processor and you remain the controller. We will sign a data-processing agreement on request.
5AI processing
Some of our services use artificial intelligence, including large language models, to analyse text, generate drafts or operate conversational agents. Where AI is involved:
- We tell you which components are AI-driven before deployment
- We use enterprise arrangements where the provider is contractually barred from training on your data
- Human review is applied to any output that informs a material decision
- We disclose the limitations and known failure modes of the models we use
- We do not present AI-generated findings as human-verified unless they have been verified
6Cookies and analytics
This site uses a small number of cookies and similar technologies:
- Essential — remembering your cookie choice and keeping you signed in if you have an account
- Security — Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that form submissions come from a human
- Analytics — aggregate page and traffic statistics, only if you accept them
You choose when you first arrive via the cookie banner, and you can change your mind by clearing this site’s data in your browser. Declining analytics does not restrict any part of the site.
7Third parties we rely on
We keep this list deliberately short. Each provider receives only what it needs to perform its function:
- Cloudflare — bot protection on forms (Turnstile) and network security
- Google Firebase — account authentication, if you create an account
- Our hosting provider — serving this website and delivering form emails
- Google Fonts — typography served to your browser
We do not run advertising pixels or third-party marketing trackers on this site.
8How long we keep it
Enquiry and booking correspondence is kept for up to 24 months so we have context if you come back to us. Contractual, invoicing and tax records are kept for the period required by Zimbabwean law. Client project data is retained for the period stated in your contract, and otherwise deleted or returned on request.
9Your rights
Regardless of where you are, we will honour requests to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct anything that is inaccurate or out of date
- Delete your information, where we are not legally required to retain it
- Receive a copy of your data in a portable, open format
- Withdraw consent to marketing at any time, with one click or one email
- Object to a particular use of your information
Email info@datalystafrica.com and we will respond within 30 days. We will not charge you for a reasonable request and will not ask why you are making it.
10Security
We apply the protections you would expect of a firm handling institutional data: encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), encrypted storage, role-based access limited to the team on your engagement, multi-factor authentication on administrative systems, and regular patching.
No system is perfect. If a breach ever affects your data, we will tell you what happened, what was affected and what we are doing about it — promptly and without minimising it.
11International transfers
Our primary infrastructure serves clients across Africa. Some providers listed above operate globally, which may mean data is processed outside Zimbabwe. Where a client requires data to remain in a specific jurisdiction, we can accommodate that as a contractual term — ask us before the engagement begins.
12Children
This website is intended for business users and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 through this site. Where research fieldwork involves minors, it is conducted under a separate ethical protocol with guardian consent and appropriate safeguarding.
13Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top and, for any change that materially affects your rights, notify clients directly by email. We will not quietly broaden how we use your data.
14Contact us
For any privacy question, request or complaint:

- Phone: +263 773 806 868 or +263 732 806 868
